I won a design contest!

This year, the Raleigh Appearance Commission decided to redesign the Sir Walter Raleigh Award for Community Appearance. Lucky me, they chose my design!

Here's what the award had looked like for over 15 years.

The requirements were to use the Sir Walter image, the seal of the city of Raleigh, and include the required text content.

I did a bit of research and found the original William Christmas drawing for the planning of Raleigh in 1792. I liked the idea of the award winner's project existing within the context of the original design for Raleigh so I used this image in the background of my design.

There will be a call for new designs every year, maybe I'll try my luck again next year!
